The Pacifier

Not once in my entire infant career did I use a pacifier. Wait, let me take that back - I used it at the hospital when I was born...but spit it out shortly after the 2nd day. Then on the random occasion, Mommy would give me one with hopes of soothing me during one of my outrages, but again with the spit spit. Today at the age of two, I have found one of my many unused paci's and decided to see what the hooplah is all about. I used it for some of the afternoon, taking the time to really see what benefit it provides. Soothing? I wouldn't really say so. It was just a piece of rubber in my mouth taking up space. Tasty? Not so much. I decided after a few hours that the pacifier is NOT for me - I shoulda have just trusted my infant instincts back in the day.

Mmmmm soother. As you well know I LOVED my soother. I didn't get one in the hospital, which perhaps made me want one even more? I got one when I was about 4 or 5 days old and clung to it for dear life from then on. I gave up the soother some time ago... though I still like to ask for it and do still take it at bed time. It's probably for the best that you escaped the evil lure of the paci... those things are hard to give up cold turkey!!
