Snow Storm 2009

The prediction for our snowfall is up to 26 inches. The heaviest snowfall in about 4-5 years. I for one am thrilled, primarily because Khai is going to get to enjoy real SNOW!! The last time it snowed, it barely hung around a day. Yesterday when we woke up it was gloomy and gray out, but snowing like mad. Khai was so excited. Window to window he ran, just like the last time.. begging and pleading to go outside. I felt like the evil mom, having to say no to him... I'd love to have him out there with the snow falling down on his face...but it was just far too cold and windy. The last thing I want is for him to be is sick and stuck inside the entire time we have snow, like last year. I spent a good part of the early afternoon shoveling. Not fun, and my entire body is sore now. The snow kept coming down and I ended up shoveling a second round while Khai watched from the front window. I felt so awful that I got to be out there while he longingly watched (never mind that I was doing dreaded work) that I promised him we'd make some Magic Snow (fake snow) once I got inside. After our fake snow experiment, I brought in a bowl of real snow (the fake snow just wasn't cutting it) and we made a little snowman with a candy corn nose and button eyes. Thankfully today was sunny, which made everything so bright and beautiful. We spent a couple hours sledding up and down the street, trudging through knee deep snow, and building a snowman. Khai was afraid at first no doubt because there was just so much snow, but he soon got the hang of it and loved it. He's already begging to go back out tomorrow.

Isn't snow the best!!! I had a blast playing in the snow in Michigan. We didn't get nearly as much as you, but I was still able to make lots of snow angels and a small snowman. We didn't get to do any sledding, though. The rents are planning to take me up to the Sierras to do that. In the meantime, sled enough for both of us.

I swear...even in the snow, Khai is stylish!
